Program Description
The Emissions Test Preparation Training is a non-credit, 20-hour course designed to prepare technicians for the Utah County Emissions Pretest, which is a prerequisite for enrollment in the Utah County Emissions Certification course offered through the Utah County Department of Health’s Bureau of Air Quality.
Through this course, participants will gain foundational knowledge of automotive engine systems, including mechanical, cooling, fuel, electrical, and emission control systems.
Upon program completion, students will be able to:
Describe the fundamental operation and components of engine mechanical, cooling, fuel, electrical, and emission control systems relevant to emissions testing.
Analyze common faults in vehicle systems that can affect emissions performance and identify appropriate diagnostic strategies.
Prepare for the Utah County Emissions Certification by applying course knowledge to practice questions and scenarios similar to those found on the official emissions test.
